STUART Bingham says he will show no fear against the man who ended his World Championship dream last season.
Bingham, 34, will face China’s Ding Junhui, 24, at the Australian Godfields Open, in Victoria, on July 20.
Ding won the last four frames of their epic televised 13-12 encounter in the last 16 in Sheffield in April. The defeat was a bitter blow for the Pitsea potter. It prevented Bingham reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in his career, and stopped him breaking into the top 16 for the first time in his career.
Bingham said: “That was a tough match, and either of us could have won it.
“Of course it was disappointing, but I am happy with how I played.
“And I respect Ding, but I won’t show any fear against him when our match gets underway.”
Bingham will set-off on a gruelling 28-hour flight for Australia on July 14.
He intends to catch up with an old school friend in Melbourne as he tries to acclimatise to life Down Under.
He said that is biggest concern is being able to quickly re-adjust to the nine-hour time difference.
He said: “I’ve played lots of times in China.
“But I always struggle with my body-clock.
“But that is just part of what goes with being a snooker player.
“And I won’t be looking for any excuses, because I think I can do well in the tournament.”
The event is the first full ranking event of the season – and the first one ever in Australia.
It runs from July 18-24 at the Bendigo Stadium.
