FITZWIMARC School have continued their dominance of the district sports, winning the overall title for the 23rd year in succession.
The Rayleigh school were again in stunning form at Basildon’s Gloucester Park as they sped away from their rivals in the Castle Point and Rochford region.
And that delighted their head teacher Ken Newcombe.
“We’re delighted with the latest result and we’re very proud of our record in this competition,” said Newcombe.
“To win it 23 times in a row is a fantastic achievement and a lot of hard work has gone in to achieving that.
“Over the years we’ve had some brilliant staff working with our pupils and they have also worked exceptionally hard.
“They’re in before and after school, as well as lunchtimes and they have been rewarded with the success they’ve got.”
Fitz won all three age groups in the boys competition as well as the year nine girls age-group.
Their year seven girls finished third and year eight second to make them overall winners once again.
Thundersley’s King John School finished second with Hockley’s Greensward Academy in third.
