MARLON Agyakwa will begin training with Southend United’s first team after impressing for the reserves against Colchester United yesterday.
The young right-winger was unable to stop his side suffering a 2-0 defeat at Roots Hall.
But he shone enough to be called up in to the senior squad for the first time.
“Marlon was the main highlight for us and he will train with the first team tomorrow now,” confirmed Blues reserve team manager Graham Coughlan.
“I’ve seen enough of him to see that he deserves the opportunity and this will be a chance for us to have a look at him in that environment.
“He’s a young lad and he’s done well but overall it was a very disappointing second half performance.
“I thought we were fairly bright and positive in the first half but after that we got sloppy.”
