GOALKEEPER Luke Daniels feels Southend United’s 0-0 draw at Preston North End shows they have what it takes to mix it at League One level.
Daniels, who is on loan with Blues from West Bromwich Albion, was again in fine form to help Paul Sturrock’s team draw 0-0 at Deepdale in the first round of the FA Cup.
And the custodian believes the battling display demonstrated the strength of the Southend side.
“To come to Preston who are a league above us and draw is a really good result,” said Daniels, 23.
“I think it proves we can mix it with the so-called big boys in the higher division because Preston are a massive club.
“Last season they were in the Championship so it’s a hard place to come but once we started to match them physically the football side took over and we were able to make sure of a replay.”
