MICHAEL Timlin is focusing on his football and not his future at Southend United.
The midfielder, who is on loan from Swindon Town, has been in stunning form since arriving at Blues in August.
But he is not sure where he will be playing beyond January when his temporary spell at Roots Hall expires.
“I am loving it at Southend but things can change very quickly in football and I’m not sure what will happen when my loan is up,” said Timlin, 26.
“I’m in a lucky situation to still have 18 months left on my contract at Swindon so I don’t really have to worry about things.
“I’m very grateful for the contract Swindon gave me and if I had a deal which ran out in January then I would be getting concerned.
“But this way I can just focus on my football and then the two clubs sort things out between themselves.”
Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio claimed over the weekend that Blues would have to pay good money to keep Timlin at the club.
And he also insisted he needed a different type of player at the club.
However, Timlin refused to comment on remarks made by the controversial Robins boss.
“Anyone who knows the situation will know I’ve shown a good attitude,” said the midfielder.
“I’m not going to comment about it because I think footballers have been doing that too much in public recently.
“If Di Canio wants to speak then that’s up to him but it was the chairman Jeremy Wray who let me come to Southend and I’d like to thank him for allowing me to do that because I’m really happy here.”
Timlin has helped Blues work their way to the top of the League Two table and the area semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy when Paul Sturrock’s side will face Swindon.
However, Timlin is not sure he will be allowed to play in the tie.
“We watched the draw in our hotel on Saturday and I had a funny feeling we were going to get Swindon,” said Timlin.
“I haven’t been told for definite at the moment if I can be involved in the game but it’s my understanding at the moment that I won’t be able to play."
