RICHARD McEvoy has departed for South Africa.
The Thorpe Hall golfing star hopes to make the cut in both the Alfred Dunhill and Leopard Creek competitions this week and the South African Open, at the Serengeti Golf Club, next week.
But it’s a big ask for the pro.
McEvoy has his sights set on that double in order to reach the few places more that he needs in the Race to Dubai to get the most opportunities to automatically qualify for the optimum number of tournaments in 2012.
At his Thorpe Hall base, the cadets played their monthly medal and Jamie Sergeant, with a nett 69, off 11 handicap, pipped George Lester , also nett 69, off six handicap, on countback. They both cut their handicaps by one shot, to 10 and five.
In the November Stableford, 66 men entered their cards.
Ray Hallett, with 38 points, off four handicap was well ahead in Division One , followed by Tom Wells (6), with 35 points, on count-back, with Paul King (4) and Alex Barnetson (7). Division Two was won by Nicolas Patch, with 39 points off 22 handicap; Pat Elmore, off 18 and Keith Oliver, off 16 had 37 points each.
Patch has had his handicap reduced to 21 and Elmore to 17.
In the evening, Neil Johnson, the captain hosted an entertaining talent Night with more than 100 guests.
