SOUTHEND’S two high schools once again dominated the district’s schools cross-country championships.
The High School for Girls won the overall team event, each of the four age group awards and had three individual winners.
And that was a feat matched bettered by one by the High School for Boys – who had a girl to thank for picking up four individual wins.
Sixth-former Eleanor Johnson won the Year 12/13 race at Blenheim Park, Leigh, for the boys school, who also had wins from Sam Jones (Year 7), Jo Kidd (Year 8) and Alex Short (Year 12/13).
Megan Richardson (Year 7), Natasha May (Year 8) and Liberty Good (Year 9) were the individual victors for Southend High School for Girls.
Breaking up the high schools’ duopoly were Eastwood’s George Elliott – who won the boys Year 9 race – and Rob Frith – who secured the Year 10/11 title – and Emily Bullis who won the Year 10/11 girls event.
