SOUTH Essex Gymnastics Club took a squad of 33 to compete in the Essex Regional Apparatus Qualifier in Ipswich.

In the 8/9 age group, there was 14 gymnasts competing and Thea Taylor came the highest of the competition, finishing in seventh place overall.

And Jessica Sansom got a gold medal on the bars with a score of 11.70.

Bethan Turvey, Ella Rapley, Jessica Hinder, Katie Grange, Maisie Spence, Lucy Wisbey, Isabelle Urand, Holly Lawrence, Georgina Gundle, Megan Watts, Grace Dalton and Carly Wright also took part.

In the 10/11 age group, 11 gymnasts from South Essex took part and Evie Howe had success on three pieces of apparatus.

She came joint first on bars, joint second on floor and second on vault to come second overall.

Jodie Scales also had great success, as she took joint second on floor and joint first on bars, while Emma Reid medalled on bars as she came third.

Also competing were Lauren Hill, Cerys Jones, Sharna Robertson, Bethany King, Ellie Cowell, Ayanna Lovell, Laura Toogood and Shelby With.

In the 12-plus age group, there were eight gymnasts competing.

Jade Brown came second on bars and fifth overall.

Louise Ainslie, Lydia Power, Emma Hounsell, Olivia Quenelle, Caitlin Potts, Elizabeth Bradley and Larissa Patten also took part on what was another fantastic day for the club.

All the girls that won medals will now take part in the regional finals on Sunday, November 27, again in Ipswich.
