SOUTHEND United’s Bilel Mohsni is dreaming of fulfilling his own FA Cup fantasy.
But he must first help Blues beat Preston North in a first round replay at Roots Hall tonight.
Mohsni grew up tracking the FA Cup on television in France.
And he wants to reach at least the third round this season so those now living in his home-land can watch him action.
“I would always watch the FA Cup games on TV when I was a kid,” said Mohsni.
“They were shown quite a lot and I always it being really good when one of the smaller clubs got to play one of the big teams in the Premier League.
“It would be brilliant if that could be Southend this season and we can get to the third round and play Manchester United or Chelsea.
“The youngsters now watching the games on television in France like I used to do could then watch me play.
“But there’s a long way to go before we can think about anything like that and Preston will be a hard game because they’re from a higher league.”
The two teams drew 0-0 at Deepdale 10 days ago but Mohsni believes Blues are more than capable of causing an upset.
Paul Sturrock’s side have not been beaten in their last 14 matches.
And Mohsni is keen to extend the run of good results, despite not yet knowing where he will be playing.
“I don’t know what position I will be in,” said Mohsni, who has figured in defence, midfield and in attack this term.
“I still see myself mainly as a centre-back but I’m happy to play wherever the manager wants me to.
“If I play in defence I want to stop the other team scoring, in midfield I want to make goals and as striker I want to score them.
“They’re all different but I like them and just want to play somewhere.”
The winners of tonight’s replay will host Oldham Athletic in the second round of the competition.
