SOUTHEND United striker Barry Corr has undergone surgery in a bid to cure a troublesome knee injury.

Corr, who was Blues’ top scorer with 21 goals last season, has been out since May with the problem.

But the club still hope to have the Irishman will still be able to figure during the current campaign.

“Everyone is hopeful that Barry will be back before the end of the season, said the club’s physiotherapist Ben Clarkson.

“They found a couple of things in the knee that might have caused tendinitis that had not previously been shown in any of the testing.

“Barry has had some excess tissue removed from inside his knee and also had a micro fracture procedure along with a clean of his tendon.

“Barry’s worked so hard all through the summer and the last few months.

“So hopefully now the mechanics of his knee will be resolved internally.

“That in combination with the rehab will make it more comfortable for Barry to live life and play football.”
