WE’VE extended our unbeaten run to 15 matches now and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like this in my career before.
I’ve been involved with teams that have won promotions and had great patches of form.
But I don’t think I’ve ever gone so long without suffering a defeat.
It’s obviously a great thing to be a part of but there’s a thin line between being confident and being arrogant.
At the moment we have that balance just right and we also have momentum, which is hugely important in football.
The latest victory came against Preston North End in the FA Cup on Tuesday night and it was an excellent result for us.
Last season Preston were in the Championship and they still have a number of players capable of doing well at that level, so for us to beat them was excellent.
I thought we definitely deserved the victory too and, on a personal point of view, it was nice to be back in the starting line-up.
It goes without saying that I would like to start in every game but I haven’t been able to complain too much about not playing because the manager has been coming up with different formations and styles to help us beat our opponents.
The gaffer takes a lot of things in to consideration including form, fitness and age and right now he has a number of different options with so many of the lads playing well.
We will need to be at our best at the weekend again too because I view Bristol Rovers as very dangerous opponents.
Before the season started, they were heavily tipped to be going for promotion and to be in the top seven, but it hasn’t quite happened for them yet this season.
They’re a bit lower down than I certainly expected but they have good players who, on their day, can definitely pull together to beat any team in League Two.
They’re quite inconsistent and can probably lose to anyone in the league as well but they will be coming to Roots Hall without too much pressure on their shoulders.
We have to therefore make sure we approach the game the right way, just like we did at Dagenham last weekend.
We all knew it was going to be a very hard game there and that was definitely how it proved to be.
Our fans were fantastic on the day and all the lads were very appreciative of the support they showed us.
When they get behind us like that it really does make a difference, especially when we’re digging in, and that was certainly the case at Dagenham.
Those fans who were there early enough would have also seen Chris Barker wearing the pink jersey in the warm up.
I’m still trying to work out how Mark Phillips didn’t win the vote after kicking the corner flag instead the ball in training.
But, knowing Mark like I do, there’s no way he would’ve parted with any money to persuade people not to vote for him, so I’m still working on discovering the real reasons!
