SOUTHEND United have confirmed that Jemal Johnson has been suspended from the football club until further notice for a maximum period of 14 days.
As was revealed in the Echo last week, Johnson was questioned by police and released on bail following an alleged assualt outside Faces nightclub in Ilford.
Johnson was not in Blues' squad for last Saturday's League Two clash with Brsitol Rovers.
He also failed to figure for the reserves against Grays Athletic in the Essex Senior Cup at Roots Hall last night.
And Southend have now admitted they are investigating the winger's conduct.
"The player's suspension is pending a full review in to his conduct following his arrest last month outside a nightclub in Ilford," said a club spokesman.
"The player will not be considered for selection or take part in training while the review is under way.
"No further comment will be made at this time."
