SOUTHEND United’s chief executive Tara Brady has launched a thorough investigation into Jemal Johnson’s conduct after the winger was suspended by the club.
Johnson was questioned by police and released on bail following an alleged assault outside Faces nightclub in Ilford.
And the 26-year-old winger will now discover if he has a future at the football club within the next fortnight.
“We’re trying to get a clear understanding of what happened, so any decisions that need to be made will reflect all the facts and it will be a detailed investigation we go through,” said Brady.
“We will obviously talk to the police, the player himself and we also want to find out if anyone else was involved.
“Once we have all the information available then we will then come to a decision and announce a way forward,”
Johnson was not in Blues’ squad for last Saturday’s 1-1 League Two stalemate with Bristol Rovers.
And he also failed to figure for the reserves in Tuesday night’s Essex Senior Cup penalty shoot-out defeat against Grays Athletic.
