IT has been quite an eventful year at Basildon Golf Club.
After the departure of one management company, the members saw another management team take over the running of the course.
But the ladies completed all competitions due to be played and had their annual presentation evening.
Julia Castle won the March and April medals, the winter pairs, the Spoons Cup, the Equinox cup and was the knockout runner-up.
Angie Smith, who partnered Castle in the winter pairs, won the February, March and May medals, was runner up in the Ted Preedy Trophy, and won the Ashdown Trophy for the best nett score in the club championship.
Maureen Parkin had a superb victory in the club championship as she won the Burch Trophy in the bronze division.
The club championship itself was won by Daphne Saitch.
Hannah Worthington picked up two trophies: the Kingswood Salver and Spring meeting, while mum Jackie collected her prize for her part in the Millennium Bowl Texas scramble competition.
Pam Gray also had a good year, winning the August and October medals alongside the Cymru Cup and Mixed Invitation Foursomes, both mixed competitions played alongside George Eaton.
Denise Wooley collected prizes for the January medal, flag trophy, Kingham Cup, alongside Sandra Scott, and was the proud winner of the Ted Predy trophy.
Lorraine Cooper was named Basildon’s most improved golfer as she had dropped her handicap by seven shots this year.
Cooper’s victories included the January and June medals, the Herne trophy, and the Rabbits cup.
The golfer of the year accolade went to Sue Cable with wins in both November medals 2010, February, May, June, July and August medals 2011, Millennium Bowl, Rosebowl, Sole Mio, Knockout winner and Club Championship runner up.
Cable has also won the November medal, played in the stableford format with 42 points.
Judy Long was second with 38 points, with Angie Smith following closely behind with 36. New lady captain Smith will have her drive-in on Sunday.
The Xmas Fayre saw Rita Heywood beat her handicap by four shots to take first place with 40 points.
