SOUTHEND United striker Liam Dickinson wants to return from being rested with a win at Cheltenham Town tomorrow.
Dickinson dropped to the bench for Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat to Swindon Town.
But he is now desperate to come back in to the starting line-up against Blues’ promotion rivals at Whaddon Road.
“It was frustrating not to start the Swindon game but we’re all now looking forward to getting a better result against Cheltenham now,” said Dickinson, 26.
“Hopefully I’ll be in the team because I want to play in all the games we have.
“However, the manager spoke to me in training last week and told me he was going to look at resting me for the cup games we had coming up.
“He explained how the league matches were more important and that he wanted me to be fresh for them.
“That’s why I was on the bench for Tuesday and not playing the whole 90 minutes does make a difference so hopefully I’ll get the benefit of that if I get picked at the weekend.”
