I’M hoping to be on the coach up to Morecambe this weekend but it’s going to a close call for me after I picked up a dead leg during Tuesday’s defeat to Aldershot Town.

It was so frustrating for me to come on and take a whack after about 30 seconds because I was hoping to be able to make an impact.

As it turned out I was only able to operate at 40 or 50 per cent and if we had any substitutes left to make then I would definitely have come off.

It many ways my injury summed up a disappointing night for us all.

We went there on the back of two wins looking for another positive result.

But we just didn’t hit the standards we’ve set ourselves.

We didn’t click as a team and everything that could’ve gone against us did.

Decisions in both penalty areas didn’t go our way and neither did the luck when their first goal took a big deflection on its way in to the net.

There’s no real point in making excuses though and I really don’t know why we didn’t play as well.

I think we just have to put it down to a disappointing evening because we prepared correctly.

Training was good and so was the spirit in the camp.

New nicknames were flying around as part of the banter with Elliot Benyon being known as Arg from the Only Way is Essex but too many players just ended up having a bad night.

Collectively that led to a bad display but that involves all of us because we’re very much in this together.

We’re now focused on going to Morecambe and getting a better result there but it will be very difficult.

Morecambe are a very big, physical side and we were pleased to get a draw against them in the end at Roots Hall earlier on in the season.

They’ve been better away from home this year, just like we have and it’s going to be another big game for both sides.

That’s why I’m desperate to be involved and hope my injury can respond well to treatment.
