THERE has been plenty written and said about a few of our players this week.
Three of the team (Ryan Hall, Kane Ferdinand and Liam Dickinson) have been internally disciplined after what happened in Morecambe.
And Bilel Mohsni also made the headlines after that game too last weekend.
I’ve had a conversation with the chairman about all four players but I’m not willing to comment further at this stage.
We have already made a press statement about the three players and will not say whether or not they play at the weekend.
You will just have to wait and see at the game!
I’m also not going to say about Bilel either apart from the fact that a statement will be coming out about him soon.
Even without all that, it would’ve been a disappointing weekend at Morecambe as we went down to 1-0 defeat.
We also picked up a couple of injuries and both Glenn Morris and JP Kalala will miss the Burton game tomorrow.
JP had to be carried off at Morecambe and it’s unfortunately it’s turned out to be quite a serious knee injury.
We’re not sure exactly how long he’s going to out for but it will definitely be long term which is a blow.
Glenn has also picked up a thigh problem and will be out of the Burton game.
Somebody else will have to go in goal but whether that’s someone new or Daniel Bentley we will have to see.
If we don’t bring anyone in then Daniel will play and, if that’s the case, I’m sure he wouldn’t anybody down.
It’s an important game again and we need to show the right work-rate and attitude if we are to get back to winning ways.
That matters most than anything else at this level but discipline is also important.
That’s been mentioned a lot this week and we have had problems with it here this season.
But I’d like to think that’s been sorted now and that we’ve got to the bottom of what’s been going wrong.
The players are also still hurting after losing the last couple of games and we need to see a response.
We need to improve our record against Burton as well because we haven’t beaten them yet since I’ve been here.
Last season we went there having not played for about a month and we beaten quite easily on the day but I thought we were unlucky to lose against them at Roots Hall earlier in the season.
They haven’t been on the best of runs either just lately and will also be fired up to put things right which could make things difficult for us.
Burton are always well organised too and we will have to produce an improved performance if we are to pick up the points.
We’re also in action on Monday against Crawley Town so it’s a very important and busy few days.
Changes will have to be made to the team and Lee Sawyer will definitely come in to my thinking.
He played in a friendly we had at Braintree Town on Tuesday night and I was pleased with how that went.
Lee wasn’t the only one we pushed himself forward for a place in the team in these games we have coming up.
And I certainly have plenty to be thinking about.
