Canvey Island were left disappointed after suffering a 39-27 defeat at Ipswich.
The Islanders picked up a bonus point for scoring four tries.
But they could have earned more after producing a spirited performance.
Canvey went ahead when a chip over the top by fly half Brett Smith was gathered by centre Scot Floyd to touch down.
Smith added the conversion but Ipswich hit back almost immediately with a try and conversion of their own.
Canvey went back in front with a try from scrum half Tom Dulieu which Smith converted.
However, Ipswich again replied with a converted try of their own.
The Islanders soon went back in front when winger Frankee Leeming went through before Smith also added a drop goal, but the home side surged ahead with three quick tries and a penalty.
Canvey replied with a try from a driving maul but Ipswich sealed their victory with another converted try in the dying seconds.
However, Canvey coach Andy Hawes was pleased by his team’s display.
“We did not deserve to lose the game,” said Hawes.
“That was a gutsy performance from us, especially from the forwards.”
