A DAY’S carp fishing at Lake Meadows proved a wise choice for anglers Chris Cummins and Dave Sutton.
The duo scattered their free offerings and hook baits around the point swim area at the Billericay lake.
And the tactic paid dividends as Cummins caught a 14lb common, while his mate had a heavyweight haul.
Sutton landed a 19lb common but topped it off by cathing the 26lb 2oz linear carp known as April’s Mate plus the fish known locally as the Italian, which tipped the scales at 27lb 2oz.
Jack Raven also had success fishing the day-only venue, with his two sessions producing a 26lb 8oz mirror, a 22lb common, a 21lb common, a 20lb common, a 18lb 4oz mirror, a 15lb mirror and a 12lb common.
Young Michael Daniels fished a short evening session in the shallows and landed a 18lb mirror and a 16lb 4oz mirror.
And Paul Green landed a 22lb common from the oak swim on the second island.
The final match at Gloucester Park in Basildon was one by Frank Vickers who landed 10 fish for 78lb 13oz.
Second place went to match organizer Steve Marchant with three fish for 23lb 2oz and in third place was Dennis Sweetman with two fish for 12lb 14oz.
