ANTHONY Grant is aiming to impress against Accrington Stanley tomorrow as he strives to re-establish himself as regular in Southend United’s starting line-up.
The midfielder has been in the side for Blues’ last two games having previously been out of favour.
And he is determined to stay in top form to avoid a return to the substitutes bench.
“I’m back in the team now and feel like I’ve been doing alright so I want to keep that going,” said Grant, 24.
“It was frustrating not being in the side and not playing but it’s part and parcel of being involved with football.
“I’m not the only one it’s happened to this season but hopefully I can stay in there for the games we have left now and help us win promotion.”
Grant started 10 of Southend’s opening 11 games of the campaign before dropping to the bench.
As a result, he made just five league starts between late September and the end of February.
But he impressed after replacing the injured Jean-Paul Kalala at Morecambe a fortnight ago and followed that up with two good displays against Burton Albion and Crawley Town.
Grant now also wants more of the same when Accrington come to Roots Hall tomorrow.
However, he is expecting another difficult afternoon.
“We will all need to put another good shift in if we are to get the win against Accrington,” said Grant.
“If we can get a few wins together then our confidence will be flowing again and we have our sights set on automatic promotion.
“We don’t want the play-offs and we think eight more wins from the matches we have left will be enough for us to be in the top three.”
