LUKE Prosser hopes to be handed a recall for Southend United’s showdown with Accrington Stanley tomorrow.
Prosser is in line to replace the suspended Chris Barker at the heart of the Blues’ back four.
And he is determined to make the most of any opportunity that comes his way.
“I came on against Crawley the other night and did OK so hopefully I’ll get the chance to start tomorrow,” said Prosser, 23.
“If I do get the opportunity then it’s up to me to make sure I play well to give the gaffer a selection headache for the next game.
“My aim is to try and cement a place in the team again but the most important thing is getting the win at the weekend to build on the last two games which have both been very positive for us.”
Blues could be forced to make another change in their defence as on loan Crystal Palace left-back Lee Hills faces a late fitness test on a hamstring problem.
If he fails to recover then Peter Gilbert is likely to start but the rest of the starting line up looks set to remain unchanged.
Ryan Hall will therefore be on the bench after recovering from illness and Harry Crawford is also back in contention after recovering from a long term knee injury.
However, Bilel Mohsni will not be considered for the clash.
Southend United (from): Belford, Clohessy, Phillips, Prosser, Gilbert, Sawyer, Grant, Timlin, Martin, Sampson, Harris, Hall, Ferdinand, Crawford, Benyon, Hills Baldwin & Flood.
