LUKE Prosser was left feeling frustrated after Southend United's disappointing 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley.
But the defender insisted Blues had been lifted by the indifferent results of their promotion rivals.
Crawley Town and Torquay United were also held to stalemates while Cheltenham Town and Oxford United were both beaten.
And that pleased Prosser.
“We're so disappointed to have drawn but we've got lucky with the other results so it's not as bad as it could've been,” said Prosser, 23.
“We obviously wanted to win and we came really close to doing it but we've got another point and it's kept us in contention.
“Other sides still have games in hand on us but all we can do is keep on picking up points and at least we got another one here.”
Prosser also played a part in helping Blues get the draw as he curled home his first goal of the season midway through the second half.
The defender latched on a to a half cleared free-kick from Ryan Hall and was delighted to see the ball hit the back of the net.
“The manager actually asked before the game if there was any chance of me ever getting a goal and I was really pleased to get one,” said Prosser, whose only previous effort for Blues came at Port Vale last April.
“Whenever I score we seem to draw but Accrington's first goal came from a header of mine I could've done better with so I wanted to make up for that.”
Other than that slight error, Prosser impressed at the heart of Southend's defence.
