I’M still very confident about our chances of success this season but our home form remains a concern.
I just can’t get to the bottom of why it’s not happening for us at Roots Hall right now but it’s certainly not for the want of trying.
I’ve watched the tapes over and over again and we’ve had team meetings about it too but the results haven’t improved and it’s so disappointing.
I had something similar to this at Sheffield Wednesday where the fans wanted to sometimes be 3-0 up after 10 minutes and Bradford City have had problems in front of their crowd too.
But it’s something we have to sort out because the four home games we have left at home will hold the key to our season.
We have some tough away games left but I’m sure we will get points on the board so we need to back that up with better results at Roots Hall if we are to go up.
Losing to Aldershot was a disappointment but I thought we played some good football in the first half.
Fans want silky soccer and they couldn’t have complained about how we played in the first 40 minutes or so but you have to get the right combination.
Sometimes you can play good football and other times you need to play it forward earlier on in the move but we couldn’t get it right against Aldershot.
They got the three points and now we want and need to get back on the rails at Bristol Rovers tomorrow.
I think they’re in a false league position at the moment because their current form is much better than where they are in the league suggests.
They are punching below their weight being where they are but Mark McGhee has done well since going there and it will be a difficult game for us.
We have Anthony Grant back in contention after a two match ban and it will be good to have him back available again.
Anthony was playing really well before getting banned so hopefully he can continue carry on from where he left off.
It certainly gives me food for thought and there are plenty of other things to be thinking over as well.
That includes Freddy Eastwood and it was pleasing to be able to bring him in before the transfer window for loan signings closed yesterday.
Freddy did very well for this football club when he was here before and if he can play anywhere near that again then he will be a massive boost for us during the remainder of the season.
