THE happiest angler at Doggetts this week was nine-year-old Cameron Mcpherson after he beat his personal best with a 4lb 9oz tench.
He hooked and landed the fish without help from his family who were enjoying a day’s float fishing on the south bank. Edward Sadler was packing away his bank sticks when both carp rods screamed off and he landed a fine 22lb mirror while his girlfriend fought the other much larger fish which finally shed the hook when almost at the net.
Bailiff Anthony Gull fished a night on the long arm into an easterly wind and landed four doubles to 18lb.
Dave Leiper fished an evening on the South bank for a 14lb common, and David Timms banked a 22lb mirror from the reeds opposite the double swim.
Rob Snowden enjoyed a couple of evening sessions on the North bank, landing four mirrors to 19lb.
Edward McIntosh had a 16lb fish from the south bank while Mike Spooner finished his session with a stunning brace of mirrors weighing in at 18lb and 21lb.
Bailiff Matt Price had a successful evening’s stalking on the North bank where he banked a hard scrapping twenty three pound mirror.
Paul Quaerterman claimed a new personal best when he used a nash boilie from the long arm to land a big common known to be in excess of 29lb.
