BASILDON born Casey Stoney captained Great Britain’s ladies football side to a shock 1-0 win over Brazil in front of more than 70,000 fans at Wembley.
The victory was Team GB’s third in succession and ensured they finished top of their group.
And that made sure Stoney was full of smiles at the final whistle.
"I think the smile on my face says it all,” said Stoney.
“It was a real team performance and I think we outplayed them at times. “Especially going forward they are a great side and can make things happen out of nothing."
"But to keep a clean sheet is fantastic and to get a goal, we could have been two up, but we will take the three points and top the group.”
Britain will now face Canada in the quarter finals of the competition on Friday.
