MAX Whitlock has a great chance of medalling in the individual pommel final on Sunday, according to his coach.

The South Essex club member is one of the best in the world on the horse and is expected to have a great shot at a making the podium for the second time this week in front of a packed crowd at the North Greenwich Arena.

Two-time defending World Champion Krisztian Berki was favourite coming into London 2012, but he finished way behind title rival and Great British captain Louis Smith in qualifying.

Hann is tipping Smith - whose massive 7.0 start score is the highest in the world - to take gold in the eight-man final on Sunday,.

But he says Whitlock has a great chance of adding another bronze to the one he won in the team event on Monday.

Hann said: "I think France's Cyril Tommasone will be dangerous, and then you've got Vid Hidvegi from Hungary, who has not got as high a start score as Max, but he's very consistent.

"The Russian gymnast will also be up there, but if all of them hit their best form then my money would be on Max.

"He has a great chance because his starting score (6.7) will be the highest.

"But it will all just depend on who goes through the cleanest because the pommel horse is probably the hardest piece."

Sunday's final is scheduled to begin at 3.41pm, and all the action will be screened live on the BBC.
