THERE is plenty to be thinking about when it comes to picking the team to take on Morecambe this weekend.
We have Mark Phillips and John Spicer available again and I will be thinking long and hard about what’s best to do.
I’ve had it before when I’ve kept with a winning team and lost and I’ve also made changes after a good win and lost so there’s no exact science to it.
I’m a believer in horses for courses and picking the best team for the opposition you’re facing and that’s what I will have to come up with tomorrow.
It’s always hard to tell someone you’re leaving them out after a good display and I had to have a conversation like that with Alex Woodyard because he played well against Dagenham & Redbridge.
But I just felt we needed something different for the game at Rotherham and, on Saturday, I am wary of the height Morecambe have in their team.
They’re also a strong side who look to penetrate their opponents all over the pitch and that makes this a very different game for us because we don’t have the best of records against them either.
We’ve drawn once and lost three times when we’ve played them and I certainly don’t like that statistic.
Records are made to be broken though and that’s what we want to be doing at the weekend.
We go in to the game in good shape after winning at Rotherham 3-0 but now we want to go and build on that ahead of two home games next week.
