WEST Ham United were hammered by a rampant Liverpool side in their opening Premier League clash of the season.
A Sadio Mane brace, along with goals from Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge, condemned the Hammers to a 4-0 defeat at Anfield.
New boss Manuel Pellegrini handed debuts to five summer signings – Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Fabian Balbuena, Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson – from the start.
But Jurgen Klopp’s hosts were ahead after just 19 minutes as Salah, who finished last term as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, found the back of the net from close range.
And Mane doubled Liverpool’s advantage on the stroke of half-time as he tapped home a James Milner cutback.
Mane added his second goal soon after the break, although the Senegal international forward was in an offside position, while Sturridge wrapped up the scoring just moments after coming off the bench late on.
