HAYDEN Mullins has revealed that he is desperate to score a goal for West Ham this season - if only to silence captain Lucas Neill.
Midfielder Mullins, who has failed to find the net in 38 league and cup appearances this season after notching three times last season, has challenged Neill over who will get his name on the scoresheet first.
However, with just four matches remaining, Neill has also come up empty in the goalscoring stakes, and Mullins is concerned that neither he nor the Australian will break their duck this term.
"It is very disappointing not to have scored," admitted the former Crystal Palace player.
"I had a couple of digs at Bolton and I was taking the corners as well with Nobes out, but things haven't quite worked for me in front of goal.
"I've had a little challenge with Lucas about who will score the first goal this season, but it isn't looking too good for either of us."
Mullins also revealed that he is desperate for the Hammers to finish above local rivals Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Spurs are currently three points behind the Irons, and Mullins is keen to maintain or extend that gap over the season's closing month.
"All in all we know the fans are disappointed that we haven't put a couple of wins together, but we are desperate to do that," he added.
"We don't want Tottenham to go above us and nor do the fans, we know what is at stake."
