ROBERT Green has dismissed speculation that he will leave West Ham this summer as "paper talk".

The Irons and England goalkeeper also played down rumours that he was about to sign a new contract with the club he joined from Norwich City for £2million in August 2006.

North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with moves for the 28-year-old, whose consistent form has been a highlight for the Hammers over the past two seasons.

But Green, who has developed a superb rapport with the club's supporters, has denied suggestions that he could be packing his gloves and heading off up the Barking Road at the season's end.

"Nothing has been discussed. I think it's purely paper talk and as much as there is paper talk of people saying that I'm going to go to various clubs as well," he said.

"A new contract is not something I've talked to the club about.

"If it comes long, it comes along. It's entirely up to the club and if nothing happens then so be it I've still got a long time left on my contract and I won't be sweating over it."

Manager Alan Curbishley is keen to keep Green in the East End and believes the Chertsey-born man will be between the sticks for the club come August.

"The club will be keen to keep all the players. Rob's done very well this year and has been very consistent," said the manager.

"I don't think there will be any problems."

While Green is expected to remain at Upton Park, fellow England international Richard Wright could be on his way.

The 30-year-old former Ipswich Town, Arsenal and Everton man is currently on loan at Championship relegation-favourites Southampton.

And with a host of young goalkeepers, including Czech starlet Marek Stech, coming through the ranks at the Boleyn Ground, Wright could find himself surplus to requirements.

Wright, who still lives in Ipswich, could attract interest from his hometown club after the Tractor Boys tried to sign him last summer.
